Von Franz, Nombre et temps.
- Condition: good, clean, cover slightly browned and some minor shelf wear.
C.G. Jung had bequeathed to M.-L. von Franz, his collaborator of thirty years, the task of developing his views on numbers and synchronicity, the explanatory principle of meaningful coincidences, which depth psychology has undertaken to explore scientifically. Number and Time is the result of this work. It is in a way a posthumous work by Jung. The author shows archetypes in numbers that govern both mind and matter, thus bridging the two domains. Modern physics highlights the role of numbers as factors in the arrangement of matter, particularly in the world of the atom. There is a striking parallel with the structures discovered by Jung in the collective unconscious. This common vision leads to the conception of a unified world (the unus mundus of the alchemists) whose harmony and meaning are translated into a numerical order, putting an end to Cartesian dualism. The book is full of examples from the fields of mathematics and science as well as psychology and the history of symbols. With its vigorous thinking and wealth of information, it makes an important contribution to the study of the foundations of the 'new scientific spirit'. It is thus destined to be a landmark in the history of science.
