Exhaustive biography of a little known architect. Following P. Coste or the German architect Carl von Diebitsch Baudry arrived in Cairo in 1871 and stayed for more than fifteen years, making his fortune and acquiring fame. The discovery of private archives has made it possible to shed light on the multiple facets of the talent of this artist, who was an architect, painter and collector, and to reconstruct with great precision his stay in Egypt, which was so important in his career, as the title of the book emphasises.
