Palazzo, Liturgie et société au Moyen Age.
- Condition : good, clean, minor signs of shelf wear.
Liturgy shaped the lives of men in the Middle Ages. Illustrated mainly in the mass and the sacraments, it orders the social community of believers, clerics and laity, men and women, as well as governing their daily time. But it is not reduced to the various manifestations of ecclesiastical ritual: from acts of private devotion to processions that carry crowds, from coronation books to the Lives of Saints, the liturgy also reigns outside the church, when it does not push back its borders, by encouraging itinerant practices (notably by means of portable altars). It thus interferes, inside or outside places of worship, with political and social passions or conflicts that can be read even in liturgical images, objects and gestures.
