Alain Daniélou and the Swiss photographer Raymond Burnier spent long periods of time studying at the sanctuaries of Khajuraho, Bhuvaneshvar and Konarak, as well as at many lesser-known sites in central India and Rajputana. They brought back an exceptional iconographic documentation of more than 7000 photographic negatives.
