Emmanuel Brousse, born on 23 August 1866 in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales) and died on 17 November 1926 in Paris, was a French printer, journalist and politician, member of the Democratic Alliance. His father, also named Emmanuel, was in charge of the printing works of the local Pyrénées-Orientales newspaper "L'Indépendant". At a very young age, his son worked as a typographer in the family print shop, then tried his hand at journalism by writing articles on local life, and travelled the department. He became a journalist in 1889. He was then elected deputy of the Pyrénées-Orientales and was appointed Under-Secretary of State for Finance. A monument is dedicated to him, monument installed outside Mont-Louis with this mention that many others could envy him: "To the benefactor of the Cerdanya - To the minister died poor".
