The history of the castle of the Lords of Conquet was the subject of a book written by Hélène DESPARMET who was the owner.
The house of the Lords and the Louise : Mr Rigollet, merchant and mayor of Le Conquet decided to launch the operation of a passenger line by steamboat . His ship, the Louise, began its service in 1881. For the "logistics" of the ship Rigollet bought the house of the Lords, the coal for the boiler of the ship was stored there, a basin in the small garden to the west served as a water tank. Strong timbers are planted along the wall overhanging the shoreline, a rudimentary crane is used to lower the baskets of coal into the hold of the Louise, which docks alongside the stairs. One notices the rocks pierced or fitted out for the passage of hawsers, it is probable that they already existed like this before the Louise.
