Of all the French realist cartoonists, Pierre Joubert is one of those who have profoundly influenced illustration and comics.
Born in 1910 on rue Saint-André-des-Arts in Paris, he left general education at the age of 14 to enter the Ecole des Arts appliqués, which published his first drawings. At the same time, he discovered scouting and began to draw his troop. This is how he was spotted by the magazine Scout de France for which he produced illustration sketches. During his military service, which he did in Strasbourg, he saw the creation of the Signe de Piste collection and began drawing their covers at the same time. On his return to Paris, Pierre Joubert was hired as a permanent illustrator by the Scout magazine. At the end of the Second World War, he resumed his activities as an illustrator for the Scout magazine as well as for Signe de Piste, which was in full swing.
