Georges Trautz is a German bookbinder born in Pforzheim in 1808 and died in Paris on November 9th 1879. Son-in-law, associate and successor of Antoine Bauzonnet (the latter having been gilder of Jean-Georges Purgold), he settled in Paris in 1830. From then on, the bindings were signed "Bauzonnet-Trautz", until his retirement in 1851. The bindings are then signed "Trautz-Bauzonnet".

Trautz took over Bauzonnet's workshop at his death.

Charles-Julien Lioult de Chènedollé was born in Vire in 1769. Forced to emigrate with his family to escape persecution during the Reign of Terror, he took with him a beautiful talent for poetry to console himself in the foreign land. Chênedollé knew in his exile, Chateaubriand of whom he always remained his friend, Rivarol and Mme de Staël. After the revolutionary storm, the Norman poet returned to his homeland. He published "Le Génie de l'Homme", a poem whose success gave its author an eminent place among the poets who honour our country. In 1810 he was appointed professor of literature in Rouen. He died in his castle of Coisel near Vire in 1833.
